Merging oriental and western cultures
Our school is named in honor of Chan Pak Sha, the great philosopher of
the Ming Dynasty born half a millennium ago, to commemorate his
magnificent academic contributions. "Peace in mind nurtures
inspirations", a vital saying of Chan Pak Sha, instructs our students
to uphold Chinese culture alongside with its western counterpart. The
integration of both oriental and western cultures will make our
students work for a better future of the community. The enlightenment
on playing musical instruments is one of the ways to
inculcate the cultural heritage of the motherland into the juniors of
- Promoting capacities in both Chinese and English languages
The school adopts a streaming system to group the students of the same
ability in a class for learning and teaching, in a bid to help them to lay
a solid foundation for further study in languages; together with
various teaching strategies such as speech contests, debate training ,
remedial classes, listening practices, shadow reading programme, drama
and the like to boost their confidence in English learning. Our
students are encouraged to take part in inter-school activities, for
instance, English debate with their
counterparts from China.
Reading is vital. To boost the interest in reading and to improve the
language standard of the students, all students have to read everyday. Students are encouraged to read English texts every Tuesday and Thursday. In addition to that, the school Library will conduct sessions to introduce books to students in a bid to instill a love of reading.
- Curriculum Design
The new secondary syllabus, Liberal Studies provides students more chances to study social issues which may
broaden their mind and cultivate their analytical power. We believe a
balanced curriculum for the juniors is essential. A school-based
curriculum designed by the teachers of the
Social Sciences Department has been implemented for years. Through
project work and data analysis, students are able to receive all-round
education. Moreover, inter-disciplinary curriculum reinforces
co-operation among teachers and fuels self-study atmosphere among
students. With the synergy of knowledge, abilities and social values,
all parties of the school will work in full swing for the benefits of
the students.
- Promoting a family atmosphere
The
Parent Teacher Association of our school, established in 1994,
aims to foster ties between the school and parents, an element
beneficial for the upbringing of the students. The school organizes
talks and activities to strengthen the bonds among teachers, parents
and students. Besides, we simulate the family atmosphere of a big
family through the "Pak Sha Merit scheme", the "Lunch in school
scheme", inter-disciplinary curricula and a variety of competitions, so
that the students can enjoy an exhilarating life during their pursuit
of studies in school.
-
Study Camp
To foster studying atmosphere among students, the school will launch Study Camps in holidays so that students are able to make good use of time to do their revision. Not only does it reinforce a positive learning attitude but it also improves their academic results both in tests and examinations.
